Filters run on your device

Looks, cameras, Adjust, Color, Crop, Portrait, Beauty, Spotlight, and editing several photos at once run in your browser. A photo you only filter is never uploaded, and neither is a photo you choose for Match a photo, which is only measured for its colours. Photos you edit several at a time are kept in your browser's storage on your device until you save them, for at most 3 days, so a reload does not lose them; the portrait and face tools' models are downloaded from lumen and run on your device too. Finding faces for the beauty touch-ups never leaves your device and nothing about a face is stored.

What we keep, and why

• Your email address, to sign you in and to identify your account. We send it only sign-in emails.
• Your Google account ID, if you sign in with Google: we ask Google only for your email address and that ID, nothing else from your Google account.
• A session cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is strictly necessary and is not used for tracking.
• Photos you save to your gallery, with their size, the date, and any note you write on their back. They stay until you delete them or your account.
• Presets you save: each one's name, the date, whether it applies to every new photo, and its settings (the look, camera, sliders, crop shape, and the other edits it holds). A preset never contains a photo: a colour match keeps only six numbers summarising the reference photo's colours. They stay until you delete them or your account. While you are signed out, presets are kept only in your browser; signing in moves them to your account, and any your plan has no room for stay in your browser.
• Which photos you have used AI on, and how many AI runs each has had, and your lumen Pro passes, to apply your plan's allowance. A photo is recorded by its fingerprint (below), which we clear when its 7 days are over; the count stays until your account is deleted.

We do not run ads, analytics, or tracking, and we do not sell or share your data for marketing.

AI tools

When you use an AI tool (Auto enhance, Remove background, Magic eraser), that photo is uploaded once and kept for a week, with the AI tools' results, so you can use several tools on it, or open it again, without uploading it again or using another of your photos; then it is deleted. To recognise the photo when you open it again, and to count its enhanced and erased versions as the same photo, we keep a fingerprint of the file you opened (a SHA-256 hash, from which the photo cannot be recreated) for the same week. A photo from your gallery is used where it is. The photos are processed on GPUs rented from RunPod, which does not store them. We do not use your photos to train models.

Who processes data for us

• Cloudflare hosts lumen and stores your account and gallery.
• RunPod runs the AI tools.
• Zoho (ZeptoMail) sends sign-in emails.
• Google signs you in, if you choose Sign in with Google.
• Paddle sells lumen Pro as merchant of record: it processes your payment and handles tax and receipts under its own privacy notice. We receive whether a purchase succeeded, never your card details.

Your choices

Delete any photo from your gallery, or any preset, at any time. Delete your account from the Account page, which also lists what is kept for your account: your photos and account data are deleted at once, permanently.
